The CLHSA Graduates 165 in the LE and LW Classes of 2022

The Cleveland Lutheran High School Association is pleased to announce the graduation of the Class of 2022 from both of its schools, Lutheran High School East (Cleveland Heights) and Lutheran High School West (Rocky River). 


Lutheran High School East held its commencement ceremony for its graduating class of 61 students on Thursday, May 19 at Second Ebenezer Baptist Church in Cleveland. Of the graduates, 97% will be continuing their education at a college or university in the fall, with 3% entering the workforce or attending a specialty/trade school. The class included 51 students who had attended Lutheran East for all four years of high school, 12 students who were inducted into the National Honor Society, and 12 students who were members of the school’s Honors Academy.


The commencement speaker was John P. Kellogg, J.D., a 1969 alumnus of Lutheran East and a well-known educator and commentator in the music and entertainment industry. Kellogg is currently the Program Director for the Master of Arts in Music Business program at Berklee Online, Berklee College of Music. In 2021, he was inducted as a Lutheran East Distinguished Alumnus.


Graduates Phoenix King and Amere Talley spoke at the ceremony, and the school’s L.E.A.D.S. Award, an annual award given to a faculty member displaying exceptional dedication and leadership in the school’s Christian community, was presented to faculty member Ms. Rebecca Jabs.

Lutheran High School West held its commencement ceremony on Friday, May 27 at Bay Presbyterian Church in Bay Village. The 104 graduates included 96% who had attended Lutheran West all four years of high school, 34 who were inducted into the National Honor Society, and 13 who were members of the school’s Senney Honors Academy. 85% of the class definitively plans to attend a college or university this fall, with 3% planning to serve in our country’s armed forces, 7% planning to attended a trade/specialty school, and 5% yet to share their plans with Lutheran West’s School Counseling office.


Lutheran West was honored to have Dr. Jean Cibula, Class of 1983, as its Commencement speaker. Dr. Cibula, also a graduate of Case Western Reserve University (B.A. 1987; M.D. 1991) is a renowned neurologist who specializes in epilepsy treatment. She has been recognized as one of the Best Doctors in America since 2011 and a Castle Connolly Top Doctor since 2014. Dr. Cibula was inducted as a Lutheran West Distinguished Alumna in 2021.


Student speakers at the commencement ceremony included graduates Benjamin Cruz and Morgan Jenkins, who were each awarded the school’s Christian Stewardship Award. The school’s L.E.A.D.S. Award, an annual award given to a faculty member displaying exceptional dedication and leadership in the school’s Christian community, was presented to Ms. Brittany Erdmann.
